German AfD MEP Maximilian Krah has compared himself to US presidential candidate Donald Trump. However, he is not a copy and is not walking around with a Trump cap, he clarified in an interview on local broadcaster "Sachsen Fernsehen".

"You have two ways of practising and selling right-wing politics. You have Giorgia Meloni, and you have Donald Trump. Now you can ask yourself, am I Giorgia Meloni or am I Donald Trump? I am Donald Trump," Krah said in the interview. The politician spread the word on his social media channels.

"It's about being inspired. I believe that Donald Trump is an inspiration." A lot can be learned from the Republican, such as clear language, clear content and not being intimidated. "There are many things where you can say, now let's do it like Trump, without question."

Involved before the election in Saxony
Krah is one of 15 AfD politicians in the EU Parliament. However, he was excluded from the new delegation, partly because the party leadership was dissatisfied with his public appearances. For example, the Saxon had relativized the National Socialist SS.

However, he is back on the campaign trail ahead of the state elections in Saxony on September 1. These appearances were the decision of his Saxon state association and therefore "completely acceptable", said co-chairwoman Alice Weidel. In the German state, the AfD was recently in first place in an Infratest survey with 30 percent, just ahead of the CDU with 29 percent.
