German hiker hit in the head by a stone

A bad end to an idyllic hike in Vorarlberg: a German tourist was hit on the head by a stone. The man had to be flown to hospital by helicopter. 

A 40-year-old hiker from Germany was hit on the head and injured by a stone in Innerbraz (Bludenz district) on Sunday afternoon. Around 150 meters below the summit of the "Roggelskopf", debris had come loose through no fault of his own, according to the police.

The 40-year-old suffered a gaping laceration. After initial treatment by his companions, the German was rescued by the rescue helicopter using a rope and flown to Bludenz Hospital.
