Empress Sisi’s jacket sold at auction for €62,400

A Hungarian velvet jacket belonging to Empress Elisabeth (Sisi) has been auctioned off at the Dorotheum in Vienna for €62,400. Pieces from the collection of her husband Franz Joseph also came under the hammer.

An oil painting of the former regent of Austria and Sisi's personal riding crop also went over the auction table for 48,100 and 16,900 euros respectively.

The emperor's riding boots fetched 7,800 euros and a pair of spectacles 19,500 euros.

Overall, the Emperor and Empress's personal items were "highly favored by buyers", as Dorotheum summed up on Tuesday.
