“Golf cart” with 85-year-old crashed in Tyrol

The 86-year-old accident victim was his son's passenger in a golf cart. The vehicle crashed with him 16 meters into the forest - until he was thrown out. The old man had to be flown to hospital by helicopter.

After an unusual accident, an 86-year-old man had to be flown to hospital in Innsbruck by emergency helicopter on Sunday morning. As reported by the police, the man was the passenger in a "golf cart" driven by his 56-year-old son. When he got out for a short time, the vehicle rolled away with the old man and crashed into an adjacent forest.

Cause still unclear
The two were driving on a forest road into the Perchertal valley in the municipality of Pertisau (district of Schwaz) and had to stop in front of a closed barrier. Police are still investigating why the vehicle with the father then started moving.

86-year-old thrown out of the vehicle
The vehicle crashed into a tree after about 16 meters and was stopped as a result. The 86-year-old was thrown out of the vehicle during the crash and came to rest about ten meters below the vehicle.
