Hirscher protégé becomes Braathen’s manager
A few days ago, skiing ace Charlie Raposo from Great Britain ended his career, now he already has a new job: he will be the manager of Lucas Braathen, who is making his World Cup comeback for Brazil.
Dave Ryding is the British figurehead in alpine skiing. The 28-year-old Raposo never came close to his successes, finishing in the points in only three of 46 World Cup races. The Brit gained some notoriety when he became the first alpine crack to switch to Marcel Hirscher's "Van Deer" ski brand.
At the beginning of March, Raposo suffered a torn cruciate ligament in the giant slalom in Aspen - a sobering diagnosis. Last week, the Brit announced his retirement from skiing. "It was a dream. But all good things come to an end," Raposo wrote on social media at the time.
"Exciting opportunity"
The 28-year-old now has a new role: he is supporting Norwegian ski star Lucas Braathen as manager and co-creative director on his return to the World Cup circuit. "I'm really happy about this exciting opportunity I've been given," says Raposo, looking forward to working with Braathen, who will be competing for Brazil from now on.
"Everyone who knows us will know that we both have big dreams and are trying to make the most of them. I'm excited to move to the business side and work with many industry and media faces I've met over the years as a racer," Raposo writes on Instagram.
