Despite stop sign
Collision between e-biker and car in Meiningen
There was a crash in the municipality of Meiningen in Vorarlberg on Monday: an e-biker wanted to cross the road and was hit by a car driven by a Swiss woman.
A 59-year-old woman from Appenzell in Switzerland was driving her car on Meininger Straße (L52) in Rankweil in the direction of Meiningen at around 1.45 p.m. on Monday. On the cycle path running parallel to the road, a 69-year-old e-biker was traveling in the same direction.
At the end of the cycle path, the 69-year-old wanted to cross Meininger Straße at a cycle crossing with a stop sign. The Swiss woman initiated emergency braking, but a collision could no longer be avoided.
The man was hit by the car and thrown against the windshield. The cyclist sustained undetermined injuries as a result of the accident. The emergency services attended to the injured man at the scene and then took him to Feldkirch Regional Hospital. Meanwhile, the driver of the car remained uninjured.
Both vehicles sustained considerable material damage. To clarify the cause of the accident, the vehicles were seized by order of the public prosecutor's office and an expert was called in.
