Fatal shot fired at Ukrainian police officer

A police officer was shot dead during a traffic check in western Ukraine on Saturday. A second policeman was wounded. According to the public prosecutor's office, the shooters were two soldiers.

A photo showing the suspects in the vehicle was published in Ukrainian media. The Ukrainian defence forces stated that the soldiers had belonged to a mechanized brigade a year ago and were currently serving in a different unit. No details were given. The armed forces expressed their condolences to the relatives of the police officer who was killed.

The background to the crime is not yet known. The crime has further shaken the people in the country, which has been scarred by the Russian war of aggression.
