Truck plunged headfirst into river, driver was lucky
The next accident in Upper Austria in which guardian angels were probably involved: A truck crashed into a river in Engerwitzdorf on Thursday afternoon and came to rest upside down in the Große Gusen. The driver was able to free himself from the vehicle.
First things first: the driver of the articulated lorry was apparently able to free himself from the overturned vehicle and escaped with minor injuries, according to rescue services.
Driving conditions as a possible cause
The driver is believed to have left the road with his truck in a slight bend in Engerwitzdorf at around 3 p.m. on Thursday and then crashed into the Große Gusen, where the truck-trailer combination came to rest on its roof. Driving conditions due to sleet may have played a role in the accident.
The articulated truck was carrying iron parts. Several fire departments were involved in the rescue work, which was still ongoing on Thursday evening.
Boys survived
Just on Wednesday, two boys (17 and 18) were very lucky to survive a horror crash in Upper Austria. As reported, their car was completely pinned under a semitrailer truck and the roof of the car was torn off
