New coach! Bregenz relies on old acquaintance

Second division club Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz are relying on the services of an old acquaintance for the season finale. Regi van Acker, who coached the Vorarlberg side from 2002 to 2004, is returning to Lake Constance as coach for the remainder of the season.

The 68-year-old Belgian will take over from Martin Schneider, who stepped in as interim coach following the surprising departure of Markus Mader, after the home game against FAC on Friday.

With just one win from seven games, Bregenz have recently dropped to eleventh place in the 16-team league.

Van Acker had coached Belgian fourth-division club Endracht Aalst until February. He first led Schwarz-Weiß to relegation and then to fifth place in the Austrian top flight in 2003/04.
