Fraudster used five foreign ATM cards

A 39-year-old Moldovan fraudster obtained five ATM cards and the corresponding codes. He withdrew money each time and the Salzburg police have now tracked him down.

The man blocked the deposit and withdrawal slots of ATMs. After the unsuspecting victims had inserted their ATM card into the machine and withdrawn money, the card did not come back. The victims left the ATM and the suspect withdrew cash from the victims' accounts shortly afterwards.

He had spied out the codes using cameras attached to the machines. The five cases resulted in a total loss of 7500 euros. The fraud cases took place in Salzburg, Linz and Graz. The public prosecutor's office has ordered the arrest of the Moldovan, but his whereabouts are currently unknown.
