It is not an everyday career that a Viennese woman has had. The almost 45-year-old was self-employed as a prostitute for around nine years. Then she fell ill. According to a court ruling, social insurance must pay for her retraining as an accountant. But they are blocking it. The ombudswoman and Krone+ reveal this unusual case.

Dana B. (name changed) officially ran her business, paid taxes and social insurance and worked between 80 and 100 hours a week. Today she is chronically ill, but doesn't want to end up as a welfare case. That is why she is fighting for new vocational training, which she is entitled to. However, despite her relatively young age, they would rather send her into retirement.
