Mudslides on federal roads in Tyrolean village

In Nauders (Tyrolean district of Landeck), the heavy rainfall on Easter Monday resulted in two mudslides. The masses of earth fell onto two main roads, one of which is temporarily closed. A decision on how to proceed will be made on Tuesday. 

The first mudslide broke loose on Monday morning at around 10 am and fell onto the B185, Martinsbruckerstraße. The slope water that was released as a result flowed across the road and into the cellar of a residential building. The fire department had to pump it out and divert the water. 

In the early afternoon, a second mudslide hit the local area, this time on the B180 (Reschenstraße). Here too, the fire department removed the road contamination and diverted the water from the slope. Meanwhile, traffic was diverted via a local detour.

Once the clean-up work had been completed, the Reschenstraße was reopened to traffic. Martinsbruckerstrasse, on the other hand, remained closed for the time being. The affected slopes will be assessed on Tuesday, after which it will be decided how to proceed with traffic on the two main roads and whether further measures need to be taken.
