F1 team wants Sainz! Decision deadline end of April
A door has apparently opened for Carlos Sainz in his search for a cockpit for the 2025 season. According to Auto Motor und Sport, Audi has the outgoing Ferrari driver on its wish list, but the Spaniard has until the end of April to make a decision.
As Audi will not enter the premier class of motorsport until 2026, Sainz would join Sauber next season before the racing team is taken over the following year.
However, Audi boss Andreas Seidl is said to have set Sainz a deadline. If the Madrid native has not made a decision by the end of April, the offer is said to be off the table.
Sainz switched to Ferrari in 2021, where he will now have to make way for Lewis Hamilton in the summer. In addition to Audi, Mercedes and Red Bull Racing are also reportedly among the teams vying for the services of the 29-year-old.
