Focus on new market
Broad support for the “Scandinavian plan”
Now that several tourism companies from Lake Wörthersee want to bring Scandinavian holidaymakers to Carinthia, the Carinthian investment administration and local politicians are delighted with the plans.
Until recently, the wealthy north of Europe was still on the Carinthian tourism agenda. This is soon to change. As reported, several hotel businesses on Lake Wörthersee have joined forces and are working on a concept for tapping into the Scandinavian market.
Investment management delighted
And the plan is not only causing jubilation at Klagenfurt Airport. The Carinthian Investment Administration (KB-V) is also extremely pleased with the plan. "We particularly like the fact that several companies have joined forces and are working on the project," says Martin Payer, Chairman of KB-V. The plan is therefore being followed with great interest and they would also like to support the companies. "Now we need to sound out all the framework conditions. We are on the right track here," Payer told the "Krone" newspaper. The Carinthian investment administration will provide the best possible support for the Wörthersee-Betriebe project.
15 million potential customers
According to the hoteliers' plans, the development of the new market in the urban centers of the Scandinavian capitals will attract 15 million new customers. The Scandinavian market has a high level of purchasing power and could bring a lot of money into the coffers of Carinthian tourism.
Provincial Councillor for Tourism on board
However, it is not only the Carinthian investment administration, which is the majority owner of Klagenfurt Airport, that welcomes the plan, but also Sebastian Schuschnig, Provincial Councillor for Tourism: "It is a strong signal that tourism professionals are joining forces and opening up new markets together. We support such initiatives, because Carinthia has a lot of potential in terms of inbound tourism."
