Czech tennis talent Jakub Mensik caused a stir at the Miami Open. After losing a set, the 18-year-old threw his racket in the direction of a ball boy. Fortunately, no one was hit. But the scene still caused outrage.

That was close! After Mensik lost the first set in a tie-break against Lukas Klein, he vented all his frustration. The 18-year-old walked towards his chair and threw his tennis racket forwards without thinking.

The racket narrowly missed a ball boy and then fell to the floor, fortunately without hitting anyone. The spectators on site were visibly shocked and many people were also upset on social media.

Got away with a warning
"That should definitely be an offense. Why wasn't that an automatic exclusion?" many fans wondered. In the meantime, there was no expulsion. Mensik was given a warning and allowed to continue the match. In the end, he lost to his opponent in two sets.

This was the first time the Czech talent had made negative headlines. Previously, he had become known primarily for his strong performances. This year, he qualified for the Australian Open and was only stopped in the second round by Hubert Hurkacz after five grueling sets. The 18-year-old also recently reached the final in Qatar.
