Small truck on fire pushed away with tractor
A house owner in the Villach district reacted with lightning speed on Thursday morning by using his tractor to push away a small truck that was on fire near a house. This prevented the flames from spreading.
The fire in the engine compartment of the company truck, which was parked directly in front of a house in the yard of a farm in Fürnitz, was probably caused by an electrical fault. The 55-year-old driver from Villach was carrying out work and did not notice the smoke at first.
The owner of the house did, however, and immediately alerted the emergency services and tried to contain the fire with a hand-held fire extinguisher. When this failed, he started his tractor and pushed the burning vehicle away.
Lightning-fast reaction prevented worse
This prevented the fire from spreading to the house at the last moment. The small truck was a total loss. The Fürnitz and Gödersdorf fire departments carried out extinguishing work under heavy breathing protection and the vehicle was also checked for embers using a thermal imaging camera. Fortunately, no one was injured.
