Ski tourer buried by avalanche in Tyrol
Due to large amounts of fresh snow and stormy winds, the avalanche experts of the province of Tyrol warned of the deadly danger on the mountains. Several alpinists nevertheless decided to go on a tour on Sunday. Two Germans (both 61) were caught and buried by an avalanche in St. Sigmund. Fortunately, the winter sports enthusiasts were quickly rescued by their companions.
The two Germans were on Sunday with a group of 16 alpinists in St. Siegmund in Sellrain. "As they were heading from the Westfalenhaus via the Längental towards the Lüsens parking lot, an avalanche broke loose from the Gamsgrübl and partially buried the 61-year-old man and the 61-year-old woman completely," said the police.
The two were immediately rescued from the masses of snow by their companions. "The woman sustained injuries in the accident and went to Murnau hospital on her own," said the police. The man, who was also injured according to the police, is currently not receiving medical treatment.
