Residents were at home
Burglar broke into house in broad daylight
It was thanks to an attentive neighbor that a man with several previous convictions was arrested. She observed the Hungarian man entering a house next door at 2 p.m. and informed the emergency services.
The woman was hanging up laundry on Saturday when she noticed the burglary in the house next door. She informed her husband, who called the police. When the officers arrived at the building in the south of Linz, they caught the suspect rummaging through a box.
Elderly couple did not notice the break-in
Particularly tragic: the Hungarian burglar (34) was not deterred by the daylight, nor did he seem to care that the occupants were at home. The elderly couple (86, 84) only noticed the break-in when the police arrived at their door.
Several previous convictions
Officers ordered the Hungarian out of the house with his service weapon drawn and had to restrain him on the ground as he resisted arrest. Cash and several stolen items were found on him. The man, who had several previous convictions in his home country, confessed during interrogation and was taken to Linz prison.
