Bus overturns: one child (15) dead, twelve injured

A bus carrying children and teenagers on their way to a skiing vacation crashed on the highway near Dijon in France on Sunday night. A 15-year-old girl was killed - "a tragedy", said Transport Minister Patrice Vergriete on X.

Twelve other passengers were injured when the coach overturned on its side on the A6 highway for as yet unexplained reasons, according to French media reports citing the police.

The coach was carrying 41 children and young people aged between five and 15 and ten adults from a town in Normandy to the French Alps.

The emergency services arrived on the highway with a large contingent. According to initial investigations, the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
