Behind the wheel with a blood alcohol level of 1.6

A head-on collision occurred on Monday evening in Langen near Bregenz (Vorarlberg). A 38-year-old driver crashed into the car of an oncoming 65-year-old man. Both were injured. 

At around 5.25 p.m. on Monday, a 38-year-old man was driving his car on the L4 coming from Sulzberg in the direction of Langen bei Bregenz. At the same time, a 65-year-old man was also driving his car on the road - in the opposite direction. 

For reasons as yet unexplained, the two vehicles collided head-on. After the crash, the 65-year-old had to be treated by an emergency doctor and then taken to hospital, while the younger driver injured his knee.  

The subsequent alcohol tests showed that the 65-year-old was not impaired in any way. The situation was different for the 38-year-old. He had an alcohol level of 1.6 per mille. The L4 had to be temporarily closed to traffic while the accident was cleared up.
