4500 households in Dornbirn without electricity

And suddenly nothing worked: on Wednesday evening, around 4500 households in Dornbirn lost power. The Hatlerdorf, Schoren and Rohrbach districts were affected by the supply interruption. 

The lights went out shortly after 6 pm. According to Vorarlberger Energienetze GmbH, the reason for the local blackout was damage to a medium-voltage cable during excavation work - which subsequently caused a protective trip in one of the three transformers in the Dornbirn-Süd substation.

However, the affected Dornbirn households did not have to wait long without electricity, as the fault was largely rectified at around 6.45 p.m. - i.e. before sunset - thanks to various switchovers.
