Holidaymaker resuscitated after jumping from 10-meter tower

A terrible incident on Thursday evening in a leisure park in the Tyrolean Oberland: after jumping from a ten-meter tower into the bathing lake, a 22-year-old Dutchman failed to resurface. The young man was pulled ashore by witnesses and the lifeguard. After being resuscitated, he was flown to Innsbruck hospital.

The fatal accident occurred at around 6 pm at the leisure park in Ötztal-Bahnhof (Imst district). "The 22-year-old wanted to do a so-called front flip from the ten-meter diving platform at the swimming lake in the water park. He hit his head on the side of the water surface, went under and never resurfaced," said the police, describing the dramatic scenes.

Witnesses and the lifeguard immediately jumped into the swimming lake, which was seven meters deep at this point, and were able to rescue the man from the water.

To hospital by helicopter
The young man was unconscious and was resuscitated until the emergency services arrived. In the end, he was treated by the crew of the emergency helicopter and then flown to Innsbruck Hospital.
