Bitter! Lustenau captain Maak out for a long time

Bad news for relegated Bundesliga side Austria Lustenau! The Vorarlberg club will have to do without captain Matthias Maak for a long time. 
The 32-year-old injured his left knee so badly last Friday during his team's 2:1 win in the ÖFB Cup at Wals-Grünau that he had to undergo surgery on Monday.

After 50 minutes, the cup fight in Salzburg was over for Matthias Maak. After a tackle, the central defender twisted his right knee and had to be substituted. Initial examinations ruled out at least the worst case scenario - a cruciate ligament rupture.

Nevertheless, Lustenau will have to do without their captain for some time. The reason: the Styrian suffered a tear to the outer meniscus in his right knee and underwent successful surgery in Dornbirn on Monday evening. It is questionable whether Maak will be able to make a comeback in the fall.
