Girl (5) hit by a car on a green crossing

Dramatic scenes in the Tyrolean capital: a girl (5) was hit by a car on a pedestrian crossing near the main railway station on Friday. 

A devastating accident occurred in Innsbruck at around 5.45 pm on Friday. A local man (52) turned left into Sterzinger Straße from the main railway station in his car. However, a van blocked his view of the safety lane, where a mother and her five-year-old daughter were standing.

"When the mother and daughter were in the middle of the safety lane - they had the green light - there was a collision with the child," explained the Tyrolean police. The child was injured and had to be taken to Innsbruck Hospital by ambulance.
