Drunk driver (81) crashes into traffic barrier

The 81-year-old driver had plenty of gas before he got behind the wheel in Montafon on Friday evening. After an accident in which his car was damaged, the drunk driver initially continued his journey. However, he did not get very far.  

The senior citizen was driving on the L192 in St. Gallenkirch towards Schruns at around 6.20 pm. In the Kreuzgasse area, the 81-year-old crashed into a traffic barrier.

The drunk driver did not care that his vehicle had been badly damaged. The man, who had sustained several abrasions in the accident, rumbled on with the badly damaged car. Only when there was no more air in the tire did he park the car on the side of the road and continue on foot.

Police found the fugitive
A passer-by who had discovered the completely battered car called the emergency services. Only a short time later, the police found the fleeing senior citizen, who is now in for some trouble. 

After the officers determined that the driver was driving with a blood alcohol level of 1.82, he had to surrender his driver's license on the spot. Due to the alcoholization and the hit-and-run, several charges will be filed with the Bludenz district authority.
