This ÖFB legionnaire has no desire for the second division

Dejan Ljubicic had a season to forget: First relegation with 1. FC Köln, then his European Championship dream was dashed. Now the 26-year-old is apparently determined to leave the relegated Bundesliga side.

As reported by the "Bild" newspaper, Ljubicic has submitted his transfer request to those responsible and is looking around intensively for a new club.

The ÖFB international has one year left on his contract with Cologne - without an exit clause. Due to the transfer ban, the club cannot really afford to let a top performer go because it is not allowed to bring in a replacement. On the other hand, it is Cologne's last chance to earn a transfer fee.

Season to forget for Ljubicic
Last season was just as modest for Ljubicic as it was for his club. No goals, just two assists in 26 league games - and the ex-Rapidler also struggled with minor ailments. His inconsistent performances also meant that he did not make Ralf Rangnick's European Championship squad.

A year ago, a planned move to Wolfsburg fell through, but this year the time has come. According to "Bild", Ljubicic does not want to embark on the mission to regain promotion with Cologne.
