Biker sped past civilian patrol at 189 km/h

The 24-year-old from the Wolfsberg district was driving his motorcycle on Packer Straße from Griffen towards Enzelsdorf at around 10.55 a.m. on Sunday when he attracted the attention of a police officer by performing a "wheelie" - as riding on the rear tire is referred to in technical jargon. 

Speeding along in a 100 km/h zone
The officer then followed the biker on his civilian motorcycle, whereupon the 24-year-old accelerated rapidly. "The driver was traveling at a speed of 189 km/h, minus the measurement error tolerance, in an area where the speed limit is 100 km/h," said the police.

The speeding driver's license and registration certificate as well as the license plate were temporarily confiscated and he will be charged.
