Teenager seriously injured after being thrown from moped

A moped ride ended tragically for two boys, aged 14 and 15, on Saturday. In Steinhaus (Upper Austria), the two collided with a 58-year-old woman's car when turning, causing them to be thrown off their moped and left seriously injured on the road.

The terrible accident happened at around 9.30 a.m. on Saturday in Steinhaus near Wels. The two teenagers from the Wels-Land district were driving towards Eberstalzeller Straße, with the 15-year-old at the wheel and his friend, who was a year younger, on the pillion.

At the same time, a 58-year-old woman, also from Wels-Land, was driving her car in the direction of Thalheim bei Wels. When the moped turned into Eberstalzeller Straße, the two vehicles collided.

Crisis intervention team on site
The two teenagers were thrown from the moped and, according to the police, were seriously injured on the road. The 15-year-old was taken to hospital in Wels. His 14-year-old friend was treated by an emergency doctor and then flown by helicopter to the accident hospital in Linz.

The crisis intervention team looked after the uninjured driver of the car on the spot after the terrible accident.
