Woman (79) falls for fake bank employees

A 79-year-old woman from Pongau fell victim to telephone fraudsters. A female caller pretended to be a bank employee and claimed that a virus in the bank system was causing several debits. 

The woman was told to keep her money safe and therefore gave her account access details. The fraudsters prepared three transfers, which the 79-year-old released after the caller had allayed her concerns with clever excuses.

The loss amounts to a mid-five-figure euro sum and the investigation is ongoing.
