Offspring have landed in the “castle of storks”

If visitors to the picturesque Marchegg Castle can currently hear the sound of chattering, it is because of the "noble Adebars". Because the storks and the manor house in the Weinviertel region have a long tradition.

This year, the Marchegg storks landed earlier than usual from their winter quarters in the Weinviertel at the end of February. They have their nests here not only in the meadows and on the roofs of the town - but also in the local castle. The first egg was discovered here by the nest camera on Easter Sunday.

Two weeks ago, the first black and white chick hatched and caused great joy among the operators about this "new generation" of noble Adebars. The castle also houses an information center in cooperation with the owl and bird of prey station in nearby Haringsee.

Guided tours for bird lovers
On a guided tour - every Saturday, Sunday and public holiday at 2 p.m. until August 15 - visitors can find out about the stately birds, learn details about rearing their young and enter the storks' natural habitat, so to speak. Of course, without disturbing them! There is also a daily guided tour "Castle, stork & co." at 11 am. Next highlight: the young birds are expected to fledge in mid-July!
