First play-off defeat for New York Rangers

The New York Rangers have suffered their first defeat in the eighth game of this year's play-offs in the North American Ice Hockey League (NHL).

The franchise with the most points in the regular season lost the fourth game in the Eastern Conference semi-final against the Carolina Hurricanes 3:4, preventing the latter from being eliminated for the time being.

Dallas takes the lead
Brady Skjei scored the winner for Carolina three minutes before the end of the game on the power play. The Rangers thus missed out on becoming the first team to reach the final in the East with their second "sweep".

In the Western Conference, the Dallas Stars took a 2:1 lead against the Colorado Avalanche thanks to a 4:1 away win. Tyler Seguin and Logan Stankoven each scored twice.
