Car hits crash barrier: driver was heavily intoxicated
There was an accident on the south highway in Lavanttal on Tuesday afternoon: the driver was injured - and must expect a fine because he was heavily intoxicated.
The 58-year-old Styrian from the Liezen district was driving his car on the south highway towards Italy, veered off the road to the right near Gräbern in Lavanttal and crashed into the guardrail.
The driver was injured; the C11 rescue helicopter team flew him to Klagenfurt Hospital. His car was badly damaged in the accident and was no longer roadworthy.
The alcohol test was positive and showed that he was heavily intoxicated. His driver's license was temporarily confiscated.
The Südautobahn was closed for almost 40 minutes while the accident was being investigated and cleared up, during which the Wolfsberg and Bad St. Leonhard fire departments were also deployed.
