Train service suspended
Drunkard (26) threatened with a bomb at the train station
As the police have only just announced, a 26-year-old man called the police control center last Friday to say that he had planted a bomb at the train station in Feldkirch.
After the call reached the police at around 7 pm, the station building and the surrounding area were evacuated. More than 100 people were taken to safety. Train services were suspended. The building, the surrounding area and all containers were searched by police officers familiar with explosives. However, they did not find anything.
During their operation, however, they noticed a man who was near the station. The police quickly discovered that it was the caller. The 26-year-old even had the cell phone with him.
Drunk to excess
He could not say why he had called the police and talked about a bomb being planted. Excessive alcohol consumption may have led to him telling the police the story. An alcohol test was carried out and the result was positive.
By order of the Feldkirch public prosecutor's office, the accused was taken to prison. Pre-trial detention was requested. The station area was closed for about 30 minutes.
