No question!
Does television really educate?
The cabaret artist, author and expert on human nature Stefan Vögel answers questions that others don't even dare to ask. This time it's about whether television promotes education.
This question is similar to the question "Is eating healthy?". It cannot be answered in general terms and also depends on the breadth and definition of the questioner's concept of education. In earlier times, television was seen by large sections of the population as a source of education and at the same time as a moral authority, which was regarded as a valid guide for the thoughts and actions of citizens. My grandmother, for example, often uttered the phrase "he brought" - whereby "he" meant her television set, behind which she suspected an undefined but higher intelligence that meant well for her and which is why she often followed "his" advice brought into the house.
