Düsseldorf can still dream of promotion
Fortuna Düsseldorf can continue to hope for a return to the top flight of German soccer. With a 2-0 (1-0) win over Eintracht Braunschweig, substitute Marlon Mustapha's team regained the third place they had lost the previous day and are now one point ahead of rivals Hamburger SV in the second division table.
The visitors, on the other hand, still have to worry about staying in the league. After their 16th defeat of the season, they slipped back into the danger zone in third-last place. Thomas Goiginger (from 93) and Osnabrück at least regained some hope with a 2-0 home win over Fürth. However, they are still six points off the bottom and Braunschweig.
Schalke 04 must also continue to fear for the injured Leo Greiml. A 1:1 draw at Hannover 96 leaves the "miners" just one point ahead of Braunschweig. Hannover, with Louis Schaub (from 62), once again dropped important points in the fight for promotion. They are now five points adrift of Düsseldorf.
