Roglic wins Basque Country time trial – Gall back
Co-favorite Primoz Roglic has won the opening 10-kilometer time trial of the Tour of the Basque Country in Irun, despite getting lost just before the finish!
Despite a short detour, the Slovenian celebrated his first victory in Bora kit seven seconds ahead of Jay Vine (UAE) and ten ahead of Mattias Skjelmose. Remco Evenepoel, who crashed in a bend after 200 meters, finished fourth (+11) and defending champion Jonas Vingegaard finished fifth (15).
Felix Gall back
Felix Gall from East Tyrol, who crashed at the GP Indurain on Saturday, finished 110th and already lost 1:15 minutes to Roglic. Thomas Pidcock from the Ineos team crashed during the course inspection, the Olympic mountain bike champion was unable to compete due to injury.
A hilly 160-kilometer section follows on Tuesday.
