Long-running star at the FAC
Homecoming for most successful second division export
FAC kicker Felix Seiwald plays the most of all Salzburg players in the second division. On Easter Sunday, his family from Flachau will also get the chance to marvel at the left-back against Liefering without having to travel far. It is still unclear what will happen for the Pongau native in the summer.
Felix Seiwald only moved from Ried to FAC in the second division in the summer. He immediately established himself as a regular and has become an integral part of Mitja Mörec's team as a left-back. With the exception of one match missed due to yellow card suspension, the Pongau native has always been in the starting eleven. This makes him the most successful Salzburg export in the second division. He is closely followed by Bregenz bomber Lukas Brückler, who only missed two starts. "I'm generally very satisfied. The team structure is right," said Seiwald, summing up his satisfaction with the season, in which he and the Vienna team are in third place ahead of the Easter Sunday game.
"We're playing an outstanding season, making the most of our resources," said Seiwald, praising the work of the Floridsdorfer. It is not yet clear whether he will stay beyond the summer. His contract expires at the end of June. "I'm very relaxed about it, I'm open to everything and want to perform to the best of my ability. I'll see what I do in the summer." However, if the defender continues to perform like this, offers will not fail to materialize.
He spent the last international break at home in Flachau. "I really enjoyed it with the family, I'm rarely at home." The 23-year-old will travel to Salzburg again on Sunday for the match against Liefering. "Some family members will be there because it's a good distance," said the Flachau native, who can look forward to support. But the match against the young bulls will be anything but easy. In the spring, Cinel's squad picked up ten out of a possible 15 points. "I'm expecting a difficult game. We have to stand up well to their pressing and aggression," says Seiwald, who, contrary to many expectations, is not related to former Bulls and Leipzig player Nicolas Seiwald.
