"Everybody off!" was the message on an ÖBB passenger train near Rohr im Kremstal on Sunday evening. The problem: the train had not arrived at its final stop, but was stranded on the open track. 90 people had to be evacuated.

"90 passengers were taken to Kremsmünster in buses, there are no injuries," said an ÖBB spokesperson in response to an inquiry from "Krone". A train came to a standstill on the Pyhrn line near Rohr im Kremstal at around 5.30 pm and was unable to continue.

The reason for the technical defect is still unclear. It is possible that the power lines were damaged by the thunderstorm or by fallen trees.

Pyhrn route closed
The fire department and rescue services were also called to the closed train to assist with the evacuation of passengers. The breakdown affected not only the train in question, but the entire Pyhrn line, which was closed on Sunday evening due to the defect. It was not initially known when it would be open again.
