Report says:
China wants to renounce chips and software from the US
According to a newspaper report, China has drawn up regulations to gradually move the government away from microprocessors made by US companies Intel and AMD. The "Financial Times" reported on Sunday that the main focus is on government computers and servers.
The long-established Microsoft operating system Windows is also no longer to be used. Foreign software is to be replaced by domestic solutions. Government agencies above local level have been instructed to use "secure and reliable" processors and operating systems when making purchases.
The government in Beijing did not initially respond to the request for comment. There was also no comment from the US companies. In the USA, production in the domestic chip industry is being expanded with government subsidies. The US government wants to reduce dependencies on China and Taiwan.
