Anonymous tip puts senior civil servant in trouble
An anonymous tip has led to an investigation into one of Carinthia's most senior civil servants. He is said to have given unauthorized official channels for years, which are now being questioned.
A special presidential meeting was called on Thursday - the topic to be discussed is highly explosive. This is because the highest official in the state parliament is being investigated.
As the "Krone" learned, an anonymous tip-off led to the personnel department of the state of Carinthia taking a close look at the working hours records of none other than state parliament director Robert Weiß, who has been in office for 20 years.
The accusation: in the past three years, he had entered around 300 official trips in the time records, "the purpose, aim and duration of which are in part incomprehensible", as the state press service confirmed on Thursday.
There is a need for clarification - the state's HR department is now looking into this issue.

Disciplinary measures: From admonition to dismissal
Although the overtime worked by Weiß - who had worked in the state's HR department before his time as director of the state parliament - is settled with a lump sum, there is even a threat of repayments. What other consequences will be drawn will depend on the final results of the investigation. "Civil service law provides for a wide range of disciplinary measures in the event of proven breaches of duty. These can range from a warning to fines to dismissal," according to the state press service.
However, it is said that an amicable agreement will be reached with Robert Weiß. Robert Weiß could not yet be reached by the "Krone".
