Rossi’s club remains in the race for a play-off spot
Marco Rossi and the Minnesota Wild remain in the race for a play-off spot in the North American Ice Hockey League (NHL). Star forward Kirill Kaprisov led Minnesota to a 4-1 home win over the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday with two goals and an assist. But the player of the night in the NHL was 18-year-old super talent Connor Bedard, who scored five points in the Chicago Blackhawks' 7-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks.
Minnesota has picked up nine out of a possible ten points from its last five games and is in ninth place in the Western Conference. To clinch one of the eight promotion spots, coach John Hynes' team must gain six points on the Vegas Golden Knights or Los Angeles Kings or seven points on the Nashville Predators in the remaining 16 games. Vorarlberg center Rossi was used on the second line with Ryan Hartman and Mats Zuccarello.
Teenager Bedard plays big
At Chicago's United Center, 18,000 fans witnessed a historic evening from Bedard. The forward, the number one pick in last year's draft, contributed a goal and four assists to the clear home win. Bedard is only the fifth player in NHL history to record five scoring points in a match as an 18-year-old. With 51 points in 52 games, Bedard also leads the rookie scoring charts ahead of the two Minnesota youngsters Brock Faber (38 points) and Rossi (33).
