Fire in a silo and two more fires in Tyrol

There were fires and heavy smoke in Innsbruck, Ladis and Matrei am Brenner on Tuesday and the fire departments had to be called out. Fortunately, no one was injured, but the damage to property amounted to thousands of euros.

At a wood processing company in Matrei am Brenner, sparks flew at around 12 noon. The flying sparks got into the silo via the ventilation system and ignited sawdust there. Heavy smoke was the result. The volunteer fire department was able to extinguish the source of the fire quickly. No persons were injured, the damage currently amounts to a mid four-digit euro sum.

Cigarettes were the cause
At around 4.20 p.m., there was a fire in a garbage house in an apartment building in Innsbruck. A plastic residual waste garbage can was on fire. The fire was extinguished by the Innsbruck fire department. The fire was probably caused by burning cigarettes. No one was injured in this case either, but the damage amounts to a three-digit euro sum.

A faulty dishwasher is believed to have been the cause of a fire in a hotel in Ladis at around 3.40 pm. An employee was able to bring the fire under control and extinguish it using a fire extinguisher. The Ladis volunteer fire department removed the faulty appliance and ventilated the hotel. No persons were injured, the amount of damage is not yet known.
