Citizens should also help shape Klagenfurt
The provincial capital is being redesigned - with citizen participation, planning tables, rezoning and more.
The citizens of Klagenfurt will soon be able to play a greater role in shaping the city. The new urban development concept with citizen participation is starting immediately - the city is to become even more climate-friendly in the future.
We need the citizens to reshape our city, which will offer space for diversity, growth and community.
Constance Mochar, Planungsreferentin (SP)
City Councillor Constance Mochar (SP) and Robert Piechl (Head of the Urban Planning Department) have many ideas and visions: "Twelve planning tables with citizens will be held, including in the individual districts." Nine central visions are to be considered: Lakeside, university, industrial zone, Koralm railroad, green and leisure spaces, mobility, vibrant city center, unsealing and smart energy solutions.
Five key questions for citizens
The Youth Council is also involved, and topics such as the airport, the army, sport and education are just as important. Citizens can participate in the process online at klagenfurt.at. Settlement boundaries are to be sounded out with the people of Klagenfurt. The questionnaire contains five key questions. "We want to further improve the quality of life," says Piechl.
There will also be rezoning and fallow land will be used. The timetable is as follows: "A draft is to be produced by the end of the year, which can then be edited by citizens. The new concept should be adopted in the fall of 2025," says Mochar.
