Handlebar behind it extinguishes
Fuel hose ruptured: Diesel catches fire
A fuel hose on a truck ruptured while driving. The leaking diesel then caught fire! But the driver of a vehicle from Innsbrucker Kommunalbetriebe driving behind reacted with presence of mind and fortunately had a fire extinguisher with him.
Suddenly, at around 5 p.m. on Monday, the leaking diesel was on fire on the main road 177 near Zirl! The driver of the articulated truck was a 57-year-old from North Macedonia - and he was very unlucky, because a fuel hose on his truck ruptured, allowing the diesel to leak out. However, a driver of a vehicle belonging to Innsbruck's municipal services driving behind reacted with presence of mind and pulled out his fire extinguisher, with which he was able to put out the fire in a short time.
23 members of the fire department were deployed
The Zirl volunteer fire department was alerted and immediately arrived with five vehicles and 23 members. The fire department was able to bind the leaking diesel. The truck had to be towed away. The road was cleaned by the Zirl road maintenance department, which meant that only one lane of the B177 could be used for around 1.5 hours.
