A tragic accident near Klausen-Leopoldsdorf in the district of Baden claimed one life on Sunday evening. A 22-year-old driver left the road in his car on the L 2111 at around 10.30 p.m., plunged down an embankment and ended up in a ditch.
Trapped in the car
As a result of the crash, his two passengers were trapped in the car and seriously injured. Alerted police officers rushed to the aid of the young men, while another officer tended to two others, including the driver, at the side of the road.
Car was not registered
A 20-year-old had to be resuscitated on the spot by an emergency doctor. He was flown to hospital by rescue helicopter, where he died shortly afterwards. Another 22-year-old was seriously injured and taken to Vienna General Hospital.
According to his own statements, the 22-year-old driver involved in the accident had swerved to avoid a deer. He escaped with minor injuries. The car is also said not to have been registered for traffic. The police are investigating the origin of the vehicle and license plate number. The scene of the accident was closed to traffic until shortly after midnight.
