Wednesday evening, at around 8:30 pm, an unusual scene occurred on the streets of Feldkirchen. A 64-year-old man was asked to stop by a plainclothes patrol from the provincial traffic department, but he fled the scene.

It all started when the police tried to stop the man's van in Oberglan. After initially stopping his vehicle, he suddenly accelerated and tried to evade being stopped. A short chase ended at the man's driveway, where he jumped out of his vehicle and fled on foot. However, the police officers were able to stop him and asked him to identify himself, which he refused to do.

"The 64-year-old actively resisted arrest and even tried to resist being restrained by the officers," the police said. In the end, the police had to arrest him for attempted resistance to state authority due to his strong resistance.

A subsequent alcohol test revealed that he was slightly intoxicated. His driver's license was confiscated on the spot. He will now be charged with both driving under the influence of alcohol and resisting public authority.

Two further driving license confiscations
A 20-year-old from Klagenfurt also lost his driver's license on Tuesday. The probationary license holder was caught driving at 96 km/h on Villacher Straße in Klagenfurt. On Wednesday, an intoxicated 25-year-old from Villach caused an accident on the Rossegger Landesstraße (L52) when he suddenly left the road on the right. "He collided with two road markers and came to a halt in the ditch after a few meters," reported the police. Although the man was uninjured, he had to surrender his license due to his heavy intoxication.
