Wurz involved

Impressive! On the outskirts of Saudi Arabia's capital Riyadh, a Formula 1 circuit is to be built that has never existed before. An Austrian, Alexander Wurz, also has a hand in the project.
Qiddiya - a planned entertainment and tourism mega-project in Riyadh. Construction has been underway since 2019. And this is where a race track is to be built that will push the boundaries of motorsport "to the extreme". Now the first promo video has caused a lot of amazement:
The track is to include 21 bends. The so-called "Blade" high-speed curve, which will be 70 meters high, will provide a spectacle. The main straight runs alongside a rollercoaster.
Wurz "very proud"
Track architect Hermann Tilke is responsible for this. And Austria's former Formula 1 driver Alexander Wurz is contributing his driver's perspective to the layout.
"I am very proud to be part of this journey," writes the ORF expert via Twitter. As things stand, the Formula 1 cars are set to make their debut on the futuristic track in 2027.
