"A child of the club"
Eberl demands total identification from players
Max Eberl, Bayern's new sporting director, has addressed the team for the first time with clear words. He is a child of the club and knows what "Mia sein mia" means. He expects every player to identify with Bayern in the same way. Behind the scenes, work is already underway on the transition.
"I am a child of the club, I am a Bayern fan through and through," emphasized Eberl in his first speech to the team. As reported by "Sport Bild", the new sporting director is said to have conveyed a clear message to his team. Every FC Bayern player must have this total identification with the club.
He wants to strengthen the legendary "Mia san mia" feeling again, which had recently been lost. Eberl then held many one-on-one meetings with Manuel Neuer and co. He also spent a noticeably long time talking to the younger players, whom he wants to involve more.
Discussion with Kimmich is imminent
A meeting with Joshua Kimmich is also due to take place soon. The aim is to clarify how the 29-year-old plans his future. From a contract extension to an early departure, everything seems possible at the moment. But the most important issue at the moment is the question of the coach.
On Monday, the new sporting director invited Bayern employees to a Weißwurst breakfast in the club canteen. "Feel free to come up to me," emphasized the 50-year-old and then sought to talk to as many of those present as possible.
The opening of the event by CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen was indicative of the ongoing unrest at the club. The 56-year-old joked: "We introduced you last week-and now you're still here." An apt remark in view of the frequent personnel changes in recent years.
