Serial fraudster caught
German man obtained Propofol for hundreds of euros
The criminal file of a 25-year-old German reads like a Hollywood screenplay. The serial fraudster stayed in hotels under false names, stole credit cards, cheated doctors and obtained anaesthetics for 18,000 euros. The internationally wanted man has now been arrested in Flachau.
On Saturday evening, the 25-year-old German from North Rhine-Westphalia was arrested in Flachau. It is the end of his long criminal journey.
In cooperation with the police in Vienna, 14 crimes have so far been attributed to the accused, which he had committed throughout Austria.
The man is accused of keeping a purse he found and making several purchases with the ATM card it contained.
He is also alleged to have rented rooms in hotels, sometimes under his own name, sometimes under false names or as an alleged employee of an international company, without paying the bills.
He is also accused of having fraudulently obtained examinations in several hospitals under false pretenses in order to obtain the anesthetic propofol. He is also accused of stealing these anesthetics during the treatments in order to administer them to himself.
The total loss ascertained so far amounts to around 18,000 euros. The German was taken to Salzburg prison.
