150th birthday: cheers to the Central Cemetery

Austria's best-known cemetery seems anything but old - it is celebrating its 150th birthday this year. 

Long live the Zentralfriedhof - and seemingly forever. Because this year, Austria's most famous resting place is celebrating its 150th birthday. And the best thing is: contrary to the lyrics of Wolfgang Ambros' cult song, entry for the living is expressly encouraged. Because Vienna's cemeteries have come up with some great ideas for this milestone anniversary.

Registration already possible
Numerous events await from May until late fall. For example, music concerts are scheduled on several evenings. The exact show program is still being fine-tuned. One thing is certain: Interactive workshops invite visitors to explore topics such as hidden habitats, biodiversity, birdlife and garden knowledge.

Program is now being continuously expanded
For the first time, there will also be night tours in summer. Yoga and Qigong will also be unusually active. The various cabaret programs are anything but deadly serious. The program is now being continuously expanded. And just like Ambros: everyone is celebrating the first, but certainly not the last 150 years of the Central Cemetery.
